My photo
I greatly enjoy exercise and staying healthy, however, I've fallen off track this past year or so. I am currently getting back into my usual diet and exercise regimen and hope to see great results from my efforts. I love food and I enjoy cooking, especially baking! I have an incredible sweet tooth, but try not to give in to it too often!

TGIF

Yay its friday!!! Happy its friday but really bummed about my weigh-in this am...

So I am weighing-in on Friday mornings, so I stepped on the scale this am and quickly jumped off!!! I gained 3 lbs....now everyone is telling me it is muscle gain bc I have been lifting, however, its a gain to me and I feel like I am failing. It's really depressing for me. I worked so hard at my workouts all week and to gain just sucks!

Breakfast was a packet of low sugar oatmeal and a banana. Lunch was a salad with feta cheese, beans, and 1 hard boiled egg-white...same lunch as yesterday, but I enjoyed it. I am on my break now, so I just had a snack...a large lightly salted rice cake with natural PB on it....i love PB!!!!

Dinner tonight is going to be out. We have a gift card to Cheesecake factory, so I think we will be going there! Yummy!

Lunch

I packed a lunch to bring to work with me since I knew my lunch break wouldn't be until 2:30! I made a salad with hard boiled egg white, sprinkled reduced fat feta cheese on it, a sprinkle of cranberries, and about 1/4 cup of mixed beans. I drizzled red wine vinegriette on it and it was delicious!

I can't wait for dinner tonight....grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomatoes wrap in a (100 cal, 3 g fat, 13 g fiber, and 8 g protein). The wrap is 12 inch diameter, its huge! The company of LaTortilla Factory and it is the whole grain smart&delicious soft wrap. I'm going to wrap it all up and put it in the toaster oven to melt the cheese and make some Alexia sweet potatoe fries and a small side salad! I can't wait!

What a Night!!!

Oh my GRAVY!!!!! Dancing with the Stars was awesome last night!! I'm not even a big fan, don't watch the show regularly, but I do enjoy dancing! That was so much fun! They did all current up beat songs, like top hits today! Ken even liked it a lot!

So, dinner was not as planned last night...I got home from work later than expected and we needed to get on the road, to make it before the show started, so we decided to get something to eat there. I was nervous about what junk they would have at the concession stands, BUT, it was great!!!! They had a grill there, and I ordered a grilled chicken salad, with bleu cheese crumbles and crumbled bacon, with a red wine viniagrette! It was actually very good, but I did push the bacon aside(my tummy can't handle real bacon).

We got home at midnight and I was of course exhausted, being that we were up that morning at 5:30 am for our workout. So I decided to sleep in a little bit this morning. Skipped the morning workout, but my Ken and I plan on getting at least 30 mins of cardio in tonight, if all goes as planned!

Breakfast today is 1 cup quick oats, raisins, cranberries, and a smidgin' of fresh ground PB. YUM!

So, now that I have been side tracked by this whole blogging deal, I am running late and still need to shower and get to work in an hour!

Toot-a-loo!

Dancing With the Stars!!

I forgot to mention that Ken got 2 free tickets to the Dancing With the Stars tour performance tonight! I'm excited! I followed the past season! I get out of work at 6 and the show starts at 7:30. I won't be blogging this evening because I will be in a rush to get out the door and on our way tonight! I can tell you that I plan on eating a veggie soy patty and a small salad for dinner(something quick).

AND...I can't promise you that I will get a workout in tomorrow am...I don't know how late we will be home tonight from the show.

BYE!!

It's 5:30 a.m. AGAIN!

Time passes so quickly when you are having a good nights sleep...I slept straight thru the night and woke to the alarm at 5:30. I have been very tired at night with the early workouts in the mornings. So, Ken and I went at it again this morning. Started with 15 min cardio warm-up on the treadmill...I did 4 mph at an incline level of 6. It was a good sweat and my legs are feeling it already! After my warm-up, I did my usual Day 3 lifting routine...I am following a 3 day lifting routine that I found in my Women's Body Sculpting book.

After my workout and shower, I settled down for some breakfast. I had 1 cup of Dannon Fat Free strawberry yogurt topped with 3 tbps of low fat granola and a tbsp of raw sunflower seeds.

I am off to work in a bit...I have packed a cup of red grapes and a Clif Z Bar to hold me off until my late lunch break at 2 pm.

I'll ttyl! Have a great hump day!

Up and at it!

Alarm went off at 5:30 once again, so we hopped out of bed and got ready for our morning workout. Today was a cardio day only, so I did 40 mins on the elliptical, then completed the workout with a few sets of ab work.

While I showered, Ken made protein breakfast shakes for us...protein powder, ice, skim milk, and a 1/2 banana, and a TBSP of PB....YUMMMMMMY!!!

On my way out the door for work I grabbed a Clif Bar and a reduced fat cheddar cheese stick to have as a snack before my lunch break.

Now I am home and for lunch I had 5 slices of turkey breast and a lightly salted quaker rice cake with a smear of PB on it.

When I go back to work I will bring grapes and raisins with me to snack on until I get home for dinner tonight.

I have dinner going in the crock pot now...I cut up thin skinless boneless chicken breasts into pieces, 1 can of italian herb diced tomatoes, and I threw in a bag of frozen mixed veggies, as well as some italian seasoning, garlic, etc. We will have a small salad and cousous with the chicken.

Sounds and smells great, I'm looking forward to it!

I will be back later tonight!!

Monday night dinner

So, although it is Tuesday afternoon, I will recap on Mondays dinner, since I did not get around to blogging last night or this am.

Last night I cam home from work at around 6:15 and my husband was already home, so he got dinner started. In the oven he had grilled chicken stuffed with creamy broccoli. It is simialar to chicken corn on bleu, however, a healthier version! It was yummy! We also had steamed mixed veggies on the side with brown rice.

After we ate dinner we headed out to Nature's Pantry, a local health food store simialr to Whole Foods. We got fresh ground all natural PB, Alexia sweet potatoe fries, and some soups, as well as some Clif Z bars ( peanut butter). Afterwards, Ken wanted to go to GNC to get some more protein powder.

By the time we got home it was around 8:30 and I was exhausted so I hung out on the couch with my Health magazine, then headed to bed sortly after.

Monday morning blues...

Ugh....the dretful morning has arrived. Mondays are the worst, but I'm off to a great start! Ken and I set our alarms for 5:30 am, woke up and headed downstairs to our gym. Today was day 2 of my lifting routine...so I did 20 intense mins of cardio on my elliptical and then did 25 mins of intense lifting and leg work. It felt great to start a Monday off like that!

After our workout, we made protein shakes...Chocolate whey protein powder, 1 cup skim milk, 1 cup crushed ice, and 1 tablespoon of natural PB. Mixed that up twice, one for me and one for him. I enjoyed my shake, then headed for the shower.

I am taking a banana with me to work as an AM snack, as well as a low cal/low fat protein snack bar. I take a late lunch break this week(2ish) so I plan on having my bar around 12:30 or so to hold me over until lunch.

Have a great Monday! TTYL

My day...

Well, today was a lazy day for the most part. We watched the games and relaxed. Lunch was very light for me... 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese, grape tomatoes, and a few(about ten) raw almonds.

Ken and I decided to splurge a little bit today and go out to eat for dinner. It is our 6 month wedding anniversary!!! WOW!! Time flies! We went to one of our favorite sports bar/grill called 54th Street. I made a good dinner choice...grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, red peppers, and pico de gallo in a flour tortilla. I asked them not to put the shredded cheese and bacon on the wrap to help cut some cals. It also came with a bacon ranch dressing, which I asked them to put on the side and I dipped lightly. Of course it came with fries, but thankfully Ken ate most of mine, plus his own! It was very good and it was light...there was a ton of sliced lettuce and red peppers on it, more veggies than chicken I would say, but it was teh perfect amount. As I usually do, I pulled pieces of the tortilla off of the wrap as I ate it, avoiding some extra carbs.

On our way home, Ken and I decided to pull into the Dairy Queen drive-thru! So not only were we getting ice cream, but we were going through the drive-thru for ice cream!!! Oh well! It's our splurge day and I've been very good the last week or so...

I got a small reeses blizzard and I am so proud of myself...I ate 1/4 of it, which wasn't more than a 1/4 cup, and put the rest in the freezer! It was just enough to hit the spot.

UGHHH Monday is here already!!!! I can't stand the thought of it...But I am ready to start a fresh week of healthy eating and my routine exercise. I CAN DO IT!!!!!!

Sunday Morning

Good morning! So we have been up since 6 am because the guys got here at 7 to finish our basement for us. That means I didn't get my workout in this morning. After the guys are done with the basement, Ken and I need to clean it up and move the gym equipment back in place. We'll see if I get a workout in today or not.

Breakfast today was 2 low fat whole grain Eggo waffles, a drizzle of light syrup, and 3 turkey sausage links. Yummy! Ken enjoyed the sausage links too! Ken is great about eating anything "turkey"...it helps me a lot being that I don't have to make two different meals. He actually prefers some things in the turkey version.

So now we are just hanging out...I'm doing some laundry and relaxing today. Playoff games will be on this afternoon, so we will be watching them!

I'll check back later!

Quiet Saturday Night

So it's only 8 pm and I am exhausted and my whole body aches. My leg muscles are so sore from squats...it kills to walk up the stairs! My shoulders and arms are sore as well as my abs. Feels good to be sore, but gosh, not this sore!!!

Dinner was good tonight...not too sure of what to make for dinner tomorrow...hmmm

Early tomorrow morning a few guys are coming over to finish hanging the sheetrock in our basement. They are suppose to be at the house at 7 am!!!!! Getting up that early on a Sunday is going to hurt!! So, being that I won't have access to my gym equipment, I suppose I won't get a workout in tomorrow, unless I work out later in the day. That is sooo hard for me to do though. I rather just get it over with in the morning. Well I will see what the day brings...

Light Lunch

I wasn't too hungry for lunch, so I had a healthy turkey sandwich....3 slices of peppered turkey breast on 2 slices of 100% whole wheat bread (45 cals each slice).

I spent 2 hours lifting heavy boxes in our garage and moving junk around in there trying to clean it up from our move.

Now resting with the hubby, watching some NFL playoff games, then cooking dinner

Dinner is going to be rotisserie turkey tenderloin, steamed veggies, and a small salad with tomatoes and light red wine vinagriette(sp?). Can't wait to eat it...yummy!

Startin' Up

Hello everyone! This is officially my first post as a "blogger"! I'm excited to share my daily exercise and nutrition diary with everyone else who is interested.

With the new year in gear, I have energized myself and decided to get back on track and exercise and eat the healthy way I use to. I'm ready to sweat and ready to burn...

My husband (Ken) and I woke up early this morning and began our Saturday by taking our dog for a walk. When we got back home, we got our running shoes on, ate a banana each , and headed downstairs where our home gym is.

Ken and I are determined to get back on track together, which makes it a little bit easier, having someone to push you harder. So the sweating began....

I ended up doing 40 intense mins of cardio. I split up my cardio and did 20 mins on the elliptical and 20 mins on the spin bike. I am pretty sore in my legs and arms from our workout yesterday, so 40 mins was plenty for me! I worked up a good sweat and got my heart pumping.

After a good fat burning workout, we were starving, so Ken cooked up some white eggs, whole wheat toast with sugar free jam, and we each had a clementine. Breakfast was completed with a small glass of light OJ.

I'll check back in later on after lunch...
